Founded almost 8 years ago, Clive Lonstein’s design studio is comprised of experienced and creative design professionals. Their recent projects include a multi-story boutique development project in Manhattan, a privately run airport in Seattle, and private residences in Aspen, the Bahamas, the Hamptons, and Manhattan. Located in a historic McKim, Mead & White building in downtown Manhattan, the design studio houses a rich library of materials from which to draw inspiration, whether it is an alpine estate modeled after an English country house or the sleek and modern lines of a Miami office. His work has been featured in publications such as Architectural Digest, Wallpaper Magazine, House and Garden UK, Architectural Digest Italia, Galerie Magazine, and L’Officiel.

Prior to opening his own firm, Lonstein served as Design Director at Studio Sofield where he worked on high-end residential, retail, and hospitality projects and with commercial clients ranging from Tom Ford to Boucheron. He subsequently served as a Vice President at Tiffany & Co. where he oversaw the firm’s in-house architecture and design studio.

Lonstein received a Masters of Architecture with distinction from Harvard University. The combination of his architectural training and his background in fine art continues to inform his design and his particular use of form, color and materials. A native of South Africa who has worked on projects in unique locales ranging from Aspen and Bel Air to Geneva and Tokyo, Lonstein has a distinctive ability to meld local traditions and aesthetics with his clients’ and his own tastes and preferences in order to create original concepts.

Based in the Cable Building in downtown Manhattan, the studio draws inspiration from an extensive library of materials, as well as influences from travel, art, fashion, and nature. Recent projects include private residences in Aspen, Bahamas, Cabo, Connecticut, Hamptons, Manhattan, Palm Beach and Seattle. Lonstein’s design philosophy is deeply influenced by his academic background. He holds a Master of Architecture with distinction from Harvard University, where his studies in architecture were complemented by an exploration of fine art. This intellectual foundation profoundly shapes his sophisticated use of color, form, light, materials, and proportion.

Prior to founding his firm, Lonstein served as the Design Director for Studio Sofield, managing high-end residential, retail, and hospitality projects for clients such as Tom Ford, Gucci, and YSL. He also held the position of Vice President at Tiffany & Co., overseeing the firm’s global in-house architecture and design studio.

Originally from South Africa, Lonstein has worked on diverse projects across Aspen, Bel Air,Geneva, and Tokyo, skillfully integrating local traditions with his distinctive design vision. His work has been prominently featured in publications such as Architectural Digest, Elle Decor, Wallpaper* Magazine,House & Garden UK, Architectural Digest Italia, Galerie Magazine, and L’Officiel.
